Service structure in ITIL
Service structure is one of the components of IT Project management. As an I.T Management, you really need to take time to plan the outlook of your project. You must be able to envisage some of the challenges that your project will face.
This will allow you to plan ahead. In this article, I want to talk about some of the planning that you need to make. Follow me as we look at this together in this article.
I am going to throw more light on what value chain and value network is in Service strategy.
A value chain is a set of activities that an organisation performs in order to add value to their customers. When we talk about a value chain, we are talking about a network. In developing a service strategy, we need to know the roles that each department will play.
Kindly note that the roles of the departments are interrelated. Each department is also expecting other departments to perform their roles. It is also noteworthy that these expectations be written down.
This will allow the I.T leader to work towards how they will be achieved.
Another type of service structure is a value network. This happens when two or more departments come together to achieve their desired objectives. Most of the time, we can also have two or more organisations collaborating together to deliver value to customers.
Organisations do enter into this arrangement when they lack the capital to execute the project. Some go to the extent of forming new organisations in order to deliver value to their customers.
