8 Quality Metrics for Projects
Quality metrics for projects are actuals that describes the measurements for the quality control process. It determines which elements of the project are going to be measured , and how they are factored into the project.
Some of the examples of quality metrics for projects include timely performance, budget control, defect density, reliability, rate of failure as well as test coverage.

#1 DELIVERED DEFECT PER SIZE
One of the tools for quality metrics is the delivery defects per size that you have agreed with stakeholders. You will always look at the total number of products that were delivered as well as how many of the delivered product had issues at the end of the day.
#2 TOTAL EFFECTIVE
Another means of measuring quality in any given project is the overall performance of the whole process. You have to look at how the whole process has performed. This will help you to determine which aspect of the entire process need to be changed for effective performance.
#3 SCHEDULE ADHERENCE
Another quality metrics for projects that you need to look for in a project is schedule adherence for the project. You have to look at the initial schedule baseline for the project. You will now consider the variance between scheduled baseline and the actual duration for the project.
#4 ACCURACY OF ESTIMATES
Apart from the schedule for the project, you have to consider what you have planned and what you later spent on your projects. You also need to do reserve analysis to look at how you are dripping into your reserves for the project. These reserves are of two types. They are Contingency reserves and Management reserves. Contingency reserves are part of the project while management reserves fund set apart by the organisation to meet unforeseen circumstances.
#5 NUMBER OF OPEN CUSTOMER PROBLEMS
Another quality metrics that can be used to measure deliverables for the project is the number of open customer benefits that you have. You will have to look at the number of people that complained after the product was released to the user environment. The lesser, the better.
#6 TIME FACTOR
Another quality metrics that the Project Manager or functional manager need to look at is the time it takes to resolve open issues. The Project Manager need to identify the training needs of end-users. He has to make arrangement of how support staffs will be supported for the project.
#7 COST OF NON-CONFORMANCE
The Project manager also needs to look at the cost of non-conformance for the project. This is the amount you pay for your mistakes. The amount you pay will determine the extent at which you stick to original plans. The lesser you spend on non-conformance shows that you really take every factor into consideration before the project commences.
#8 SOFTWARE RELIABILITY
The extent at which you consider the software or vendor you have chosen will also be used to measure the success of your project. You have to consider the volatility of your software and make sure you choose a dependable vendor with good track record.
