In my previous article, I have talked about some of the facts that you need to know about the functional organisational structure. That is the type of organisational structure where projects are being handled by the departmental heads in an organisation. In this article, I want to look at Projectized organisational structure. We want to look at some of the powers that are available to Project Managers in this type of organisational structure.
In a Projectized organisational structure, there is nothing like departments that shared powers with the Project Manager. Every project is carried out by a Professional Project manager who will supervise the project from the beginning to the end. The Project Manager, in this case, has full control over the Project. The only problem with this type of organisational structure is that the Project team has “no home”. That means once the project has ended, the project team will be without a job until their beloved project manager is engaged in another job.
The good side of this type of organisational structure is that the Project Manager has full control over the resources of the project.
