The United Kingdom came up with Data Protection Law in 1998  dwells much on the protection of data of personal data of people living in the UK. The law guides how data released by an individual can be used.

The laws also cover the right to privacy by individuals who have submitted data and personal information. You are not to disclose their information to third parties without their express permission.  Under this law, data can only be disclosed to third parties if there is overriding legislation that states that. For instance, if someone is been investigated for terrorism-related activities, his data can be requested by the government.

Above all, it is an offence for third parties to have access to personal information of other individuals.
