Introduction to Integration skills in Project Management
In my previous articles, I have been talking about many skills that Project Managers need to have in order to run a Project successfully. In this article, I want to let you know that as a Project Manager, you will be expected to bring many parts of projects and tasks together to become one. That is why in this article, I will be talking about integration skills in project management. Follow me as we look at those critical skills together in this article.
#1 Process level integration as part of integration skills in project management
When we talk about process-level integration skills as one of the skills for Project Manager. It means that the Project Manager should be able to integrate different process groups that are recommended by PMI together when he is managing his project. He should know how these processes work together in order to achieve the desired result. We have 42 process group and as an individual preparing for the PMP exam, you should know these process groups offhand.
#2 Cognitive level integration as part of integration skills in project management
When we talk about cognitive level integration as part of the integration skills for Project Managers, it means that the Project Manager should be versatile in the 10 knowledge areas that we have in the new edition of the Project Management Body of Knowledge Version 6. You should know some of the actions or activities that needed to be performed in each of these knowledge areas. Some of the knowledge areas include Integration Management, Communication Management, Scope Management, Stakeholder Management among others.
#3 Context Level Integration as part of integration skills in project management
Context level integration as part of the integration skills for Project Managers. It means the Project Manager must be able to analyze situations and come up with the best course of action. Whether you are managing a successful project or you took over a failed Project, you must know what step to take at any given time. You should know when you are working with a virtual team or find yourself in a situation where you are surrounded by difficult stakeholders.
#4 Complexity Integration
When we talk about complexity integration as part of the integration skills in Project Management, it means that no situation should be too difficult for a good Project Management. He should be able to handle the complexity of any project and come up with the best course of action no matter how difficult the situation is.
