2018 saw marketers from around the world choosing content marketing as the most effective digital marketing strategy. Next, to content, the evolving digital marketing landscape has also welcomed the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning to enhance marketing campaigns, while social media marketing takes the fourth spot.
Even if you think you have every marketing technique down pat, it still pays to take note of the latest trends as the industry keeps evolving. However, a few things remain the same.
Take Google for instance. This search engine giant still takes the majority of the total organic traffic — 94% to be exact. So ranking on the first page of Google and other search engines should remain a top priority for businesses, since research reveals that 75% of internet users never scroll past the first page.
In addition, search engines drive 300% more traffic to websites than social media, and leads captured from search engines have a 14.6% conversion rate.
One of the biggest trends in online marketing nowadays is the increasing popularity of brands collaborating with social media influencers to promote their products or services. Many also incorporate social media “stories” into their campaigns, as evidenced by the 220% increase in year-over-year ad spending posted by Instagram Stories.
Meanwhile, the personalization and segmentation in email marketing is a trend that is still underused by many marketers. It’s quite a shame since personalization can increase email response rate by 100%, and segmented emails get 14.64% more email opens and 59.99% more clicks than non-segmented ones.
Content marketing, last year’s top choice of technique by marketers worldwide, gets three times more leads than paid advertising. Further research revealed that 47% of buyers viewed three to five pieces of content before reaching out to a sales rep.
You can find mind-boggling amounts of content online on a regular basis. It can get really crowded. So If you want your business to stand out, you must keep things fresh and interesting.
For instance, online marketing statistics show that infographics, a visually engaging presentation of important data, are liked and shared on social media platforms three times more than any other type of content.
