What you have not known about information security

Here are some facts you have not known about Information Security…

In my previous article, I have talked about the ball of Security. I have made it clear that the more you move towards ease of use for your device, the more you are moving away from securing your device. You cannot eat your cake and have it. You will either choose ease of use or security, not both.

In this article, I want to talk about the three fundamental concepts of security. Follow me as we look at this together.

Precaution
Under precaution, as a user of a gadget, you are trying to adhere to preventive measures while using your computers and applications. You have been told that you should not share your email password, you should not click on remember me, do not open email from an unknown source. All these are precautions that prevent you from attacks.

Maintainance
Another aspect of security is maintained. This is where you are managing all the changes to your applications and keeping everything up to date.

I have been in an environment where people refused to update their anti-virus and still expect maximum protection. It is never done. You have to keep your anti-virus definitions up to date.

The main reason for that is that attackers and Black Angels are busy creating viruses every blessed day.

Reaction
The reaction has to do with acting in a timely manner when a security breach occurs. One of the ways of preparing for the reaction is to have an off-site facility that can keep your organization going if any catastrophic event occurs. Another way is to know what to do and who to consult if the security of your network is been compromised.
