Duration can be defined as the amount as the amount of time that a particular task or work package will take to complete. 

The metric used to define duration in project management includes days, weeks, month, or years. In calculating duration, you have to add the time that it will take to complete each of the subtasks together in order to know the actual time that particular task is going to take on the long run.

Now fixed duration…
This is a task that already had a set time that it must be completed. In carrying out this kind of tasks, there is no amount of labour that you add that will change the specific duration that such task is going to take. That is why we normally referred to it as a fixed duration.
