Understanding internet security
A cookie is an information that is provided by a web server to a web browser. It is also sent back unchanged anytime that particular website or IP address access to the server.
Whenever that particular user visits the server, the information is sent back to the server unchanged. This helps the server to recognise the user and record the information. It also makes it easy for the user to quickly access information needed.
As a user, you can limit the information stored in your browser by the cookie. This will also help you to protect the privacy of your information.
A cookie is only a text file and cannot search for a drive for information or carry a virus. That is why you should not joke with the security of your server.
How to configure cookies settings…
You have to choose “Internet options” from the Tools menu of your browser.
Then you need to select the Privacy tab and use the slider to set the level at Low, medium or high.
You have to block all or accept all cookies depending upon the requirement.
Check the “Turn on Pop Up Blocker” option to block the pop-ups that appear while visiting some websites.
