Have you ever wondered what Service Transition means in IT Service management. Transition can be seen as the gap between the time that you completed an ITIL Project and the time you released it to the production environment. In this article, I am going to break it down for you. You will even dream of it. Lets get started.
If you are landing on my blog for the first time, I have already talked about what IT Service management is all about. You can read it here.
In my previous article, I talked about all you need to know about Service Strategy. It is the stage at which you come up with a blueprint for the entire project that you are about to embark on. You want to write out what you are going to do concerning the proposed IT Project from the beginning to the end. This makes it easier in such a way that work can still continue even though you are not around. In this article, I want to quickly look at what you should know about Service Transition.
Service Transition is when you do Gap analysis in order to detect errors that might have happened while trying to carry out your project.
The Transition stage is also when you try as much as possible to make sure that the present state of your project move into the future state. You want to analyse where you are now as well as those impediments that is stopping you from moving to the future state that you have always dreamed of. At this stage, you are carrying out Gap analysis in order to discover what is stopping from moving from where you are to where you want to be.
Above all, there is no ITIL Project that you should carry out without Service Transition. You need not to plan for how to achieve the project objective alone, you have to consider how you can sustain the project after you have handed it over to end users. This will help you to be proactive and respond to new challenges as they come up.
