Examining Change Requests During Project Execution
Change requests are a formal proposal(s) to modify any document, deliverables or baseline for the project. Note that when issues are found while project work is being performed, change requests can be submitted to rectify those issues.
This may help to modify project policies or procedures, project or product scope, project cost or budget as well as the project schedule, quality or product results.
Other change requests during project execution cover the needed preventive or corrective actions to forestall negative impact later in the project.
Any project stakeholders may request a change. Change requests are always processed for review and disposition through the Perform Integrated Change Control process group. They can be initiated from inside and outside of the project. They can also be optional or legally or contractually mandated.
Change requests might take the form of:
#1 Corrective action
These are an intentional activity that realigns the performance of the project work with the project management team.
#2 Preventive action
These are an intentional activity that ensures the future performance of the project work is aligned with the project management plan.
#3 Defect Repair
This is an intentional activity to modify a nonconforming product or product component for the project.
These are changes to formally controlled project documents, plans e.t.c They are made so that the project can reflect modified or additional ideas or content.
