In my previous article on this subject matter, I have tried to explain what customer requirement is. In this article, I want to look at some of the ways by which you can analyse customer requirements so as to do what customers are really requesting. Follow me as we look at this together.
Interview customers as a means of analysing customer requirements
In analyzing customer requirements, you need to interview the customers and get their own viewpoint. Do not assume that you know what they want. The main reason why employees boycott innovation in their organisation is that customers(end users) are not carried along in the planning process.
You should also know that you are bound to receive customer requirements that are related in one way or the other. It is now left to you as a Project Manager to sit down and harmonize the requirements of your customers.
Prioritising requirements as a means of analysing customer requirements
After you might have received customer requirements from your customers’ requirement, you need to sit down and prioritise it. Some customer requirements might lead to new projects. Most at times, you may not have the required capital to initiate all the project at once. You need to arrange them based on their level of priority.
Finally, you have to take note of the customer’s suggestion as far as product delivery is concerned. Some might want the project to be delivered ahead of the delivery date you have set. You have to communicate this concern to the top management.
