Some facts about Data loss
Data loss happens anytime you lose important information to catastrophic or virus attacks. Like I said in my previous article, this might be very painful to the victim.
This is because, many at times, without backup, it might be very difficult to recover from those losses.
In this article, I want to look at six types of data loss in computer security. Follow me as we look at that together in this article.
#1 natural disaster
One of the reasons for loss of data is natural occurrences. This at times can be in form of flood, earthquake among others. This can happen at any time.
That is why you need to take precautionary measures. It is advisable for you to have an offsite or online location where a copy of your data is being stored.
#2 corrupt file system
Another cause of loss of files is a corrupt file system. This happens when the operating system that is loading the data got corrupt.
This has happened to me before. Most of the times when it happens, you will lose some data along with it.
That is one reason why you should not joke with data backup. It should be a regular and constant practise.
#3 hardware malfunction
This is another source of loss of data in any organisation. At times, organisations can lose data due to hardware or other storage failures.
At times, when you do not have additional copies of this information, that might be the end. That is why it is advisable for you to have offsite or online storage for your data.
#4 human error
There are times that data can be lost due to human error. It happens when users mistakenly delete data. At times some overwrite existing data.
When you are working with any data, you have to read information very well. Failure to do that might lead to loss of data. This can have a disastrous consequence.
#5 software corruption
Another mistake that can lead to data loss is software failure. When you over-rely on any software that it can never fail and it ended up failing, you might lose a lot of data on the run.
The best thing I repeat is to back up your data somewhere in order to prevent such painful loss of data. virus attacks In some of my previous articles, I have talked about how you can lose data due to a computer virus attack.
There are viruses that can do great damage to your data without you knowing.
That is why you need a good anti-virus software in order to protect your data. You should never search online for such anti-virus unless you are buying the licence from the vendor website. Without that, you are setting yourself up for a bigger attack.
