Here are the major differences between symmetric and asymmetric encryption…


Asymmetric encryption according to Search Security on their blog is the type of encryption that uses a public key to encrypt and decrypt data.

Encryption is the process of protecting information so that they are not accessible to third parties.This ensures that the information is only accessible to the party that it is meant for.

Now Symmetric encryption…


Symmetric encryption uses only one key for both encryption and decryption. This ensures that third party do not have access to the information being passed. It allows you to share data peacefully, with this hacker will not have a field day. 


When you are using symmetric encryption, you cannot share keys openly.. The key is for the two parties that are sharing information. 



 Requirement for Symmetric encryption….

Symmetric encryption requires that both the sender and the receiver knows the secret key. Even if you are the legitimate recipient but you could not provide the secret key, you will not be able to have access to the information. 


Also, Symmetric encryption help to secure data faster. There is not as fast as it. Besides the Algorithm is less complex and faster to implement.


Symmetric encryption guarantees information confidentiality.It also sustains information integrity. The concerned need must have the shared key.  


In addition, when you are using an asymmetric method of encryption, it will help you to guarantee confidentiality, integrity, authentication and non-repudiation of already existing information.
