In my previous article, I have tried to look at some of the major characteristics of a data warehouse.
I have also look at some of the features that make data warehouse to be different from Operational Data Store.




In this article, therefore, I want to look at some basic things that data warehouse will do to your data. Follow me as we do this together.

The data warehouse has the capability to identify duplication in data. It can identify similarities in data, even though those data are coming from different sources.

I want to give you this example to drive home my illustration of how data warehouse works.
Just imagine now that you are using Teracopy to send files from your Local C to a removable drive if you are sending a file that is already in the destination that you are trying to send to.




You are bound to receive a notification that the file already exists, it is now left for you to decide the fate of the new data that you are trying to send.
The same thing applies to a data warehouse. It is just a repository of data from different sources.
