One of the first thing that you need to do while preparing a Project Schedule Network Diagramming method is to determine the kind of dependencies that exists among all your project activities.

You need to input milestone into your project which will trigger reporting activities in your project, This will help you to access your project and decide if it is going on according to plan or not.
You also have to review the project scope statement that contains the product description which could also affect the sequencing of your project The scope statement will also throw more light on the precedence relationship in your project and how your project will move from one stage to another.
Also, if there is any existing document related to project scheduling , you have to make use of that when creating your project schedule.
Lead and lag
There is the need for you to determine the lead and lag of the project which will help you to know how ;long a particular project can be developed that it will not affect the delivery date of your project.
There is the need for you to identify all predecessors and successors activities in your project. In doing this, you need to create a table of two columns . In the first column , list each activities to be sequenced , each with a letter to represent them.
In the second column, write the letter of each of the predecessor activities to the nodes that you have already created.
