How to use segmented data to analyse web traffics






In many of my previous articles, I have looked at some of the tools that can be used to analyse web traffics. I have also talked about some of the benefits of having web analytics in the first place. In this article, I want to look at some of the ways that segmented data can help you to have more insight into your web analytics. Follow me as we look at that together in this article.


In order to really retain you customers and make them come back for more on your website, you need to take the following steps:


Offer discount

I have been in an environment where I have seen how discount works. In some organization, their discounts promo never ends. These are products of research. They might have noticed that sales is always on the increase when customers know there is reduction in price. You can also adopt this strategy as a means of increasing traffic on your website. You can also make use of referral program so as to increase traffic on your website as well.


Evaluate time spent

Another ways of increasing traffic on your website is to evaluate the average time users are spending on your website. Most at times you need to juxtapose visitors and the rate of visits on your website. The disparity between the two will show whether your first timer visitors are actually returning to read more contents or make purchases from your website.

Assess number of page views

The page views talk about the number of pages that were opened at any given date not minding the number of visitors that opened those pages. This tells you that your bounce rate is reducing because more people are viewing more than one page. You can make use of related post/products as well as other internal linking mechanism as a means of increasing the number of time that people can stay on those pages.


Minimize bounce rate

Another steps that you need to take is to consider those factors that are increasing bounce rate on your website. You have to decide on the keywords that you want to be known for. In doing this, you have to know your Buyer Personae. You need to know their frame of mind when they are in front of search engines. This will help you to have them in mind when you are designing your contents or promoting your products.


Use internal site search

There is the need for you to use internal search mechanism in order to understand the behavior of your users when they are on your website. You need to know the time of the day that traffic is at the peak on your website. Understanding this will help you to understand the nature of your users as well as other traffic parameters that will increase the rate at which visitors stay on your website.
